We do not publish a warrant canary for South Korea. That is because the law there does not allow the kind of statement a canary makes, not because this page is being used as a warning.
Why there is no canary
Due to local regulations regarding telecommunications and national security, we are legally prohibited from publishing secret government data requests in this jurisdiction. Doing so, even indirectly via a warrant canary, may risk severe legal or criminal penalties for our local staff. Therefore, no dynamic canary is published for this jurisdiction.
Relevant governing legislation: Article 11 (Obligation of Secrecy) explicitly mandates that anyone who provides communication confirmation data or assists in the execution of communication restriction measures must keep the matters strictly confidential. Disclosing the existence (or signaling the existence) of an NIS or police data request violates these strict secrecy obligations.
